A special of "braised fish fillets in spicy sauce," if I'm remembering correctly, was really chunks of bone-in fish (no idea what kind) and tofu cubes in a bowl of spicy (dried red chili) brown soupy sauce, over napa cabbage. The fish version of steamed beef w/napa, I guess. Very enjoyable but not life-altering. Better when I gave up on chopsticks and just spooned it in. The specials board also had a sour fish soup, kinda wish I'd ordered that. So maybe they're offering more fish choices lately?

At 7:30 p.m. on a Wednesday I had no trouble getting a table, in fact I had a whole 4-top to myself. Several folks wandered in for take-out, one of whom introduced himself as Zatan (how was the pork with cumin?).

They showed me the chef's portfolio of food pictures. Very cool. I can see a small chow-dinner in my future, later this month maybe.

BTW, the steamed pork with rice powder we preordered is now on that specials menu with the fish fillets. And they no longer have a Chinese only menu -- that menu has English translations now.

There's a Chinese menu at the back of the portfolio -- it looks like the chef digs vegetarian cooking -- there's a substantial list of vegetarian dishes, probably a series of 30-40 dishes in all.
