A friend, native Parisian, is looking for a Greater Boston bakery that sells the kind of authentic mille-feuilles pastries that he remembers from home. He is especially fond of the chocolate and coffee-cream varieties, and has had little luck finding ones that meet his standards. We also call these Napoleons.

Any suggestions?

A funny anecdote.
Several years ago I was shopping at Grossmans in Braintree for kitchen cabinets with my mother, who grew up in Syria , and has vistied Europe several times, not to mention going to Montreal several times a year, we both knew what a good mille feuille was.. We ate at the Montreal Steakhouse, can't rememnber the name and at the end of the meal the waiter reccomended we have ' the mill foyle, there invention, which was vanilla opudding, sandwiched between graham crackers, and served with icing on it.He insisted on bringing it and if we didn't like it, would remove it from the bill. When we informed him it was awful, the manager came and asked how it was. We looked at each other, laughed, and asked for the check. It brought us great amusement for years.

a pastry acquaintance works at a Whole Foods (I'll check which one and post) and makes actual, authentic mille feuilles. I know we did them at Delphin's pastry school. I wonder if Garden of Eden is doing them?
