Indigo in Needham MA
Saturday night 4/2/04 and preceding Saturday night--
First Saturday everything was excellent: Gorgonzla
salad, crab cakes, duck, lamb, bread and dipping mixture. One week later disaster. Bread served partially frozen, same duck entree which was exquisite with delicious sauce and fruit and purried parsnip with touch of currant the first visit, was served with
parsnip mixture not completely puried with lumps and flavorless and cold, with some dates apparently taken out of box and tossed on top of the glob of cold parsnip, with no sauce, which was repulsive--other entree second visit was salmon-which was butterflied and overcooked, dried out, with cold, flavorless vegetables. Mushroom soup well prepared and gorgonzola salad consistently good on second visit. Timeliness of service was a disaster. First visit in around 7:00 PM out around 8:30 with no coffee and dessert. Second visit in around 7:00 out around 9:15 with no coffee and dessert. Obviously the restaurant
had problems the second visit. I believe everyone arrived at the same time around 7:00 there was a shortage of wait staff and the kitchen which must have been missing key personnel, was overwhelmed. For a
tab of $100 for two with no dessert and coffee and one bottled water, no alcohol, one should expect more than slow service, cold, poorly prepared food. In one week the quality changed from excellent to disaster. Other diners at adjacent tables, some who had come for a special occasion based upon previous good experience were sadly disappointed.

Indigo, Needham is fabulous. It cannot be compared to that sinfully overrated, noisey eatery up the street, "Blue on Highland".
Indigo has a great fully stocked, intimate bar and an interesting menu. They will bend over backwards to make you happy. Another great plus is you can actually hear and enjoy conversations with friends and you can hear the wait staff.
An unbelievable menu of cocktails is an adventure unto itself. Check it out, it is well worth the trip.›1 Reply -
