Chinatown Grocery Stores??

  • n

Hi,

I was wondering if someone can tell me the addresses and as much directional information as to where the grocery stores are in Chinatown? I am honestly directionally challenged - and I have scoured the posts here and eekp seeing "super 88" and "see sun market" as places in CT...? I just cannot figure out where they are through my internet searches and every boston.com or what not website. If there are others, I would love to see them too or know where they are. Thank you so much,

Cheers,
Sarah

  1. For most items, I like Cheng Kwong Market...73 Essex St..owned by the Super 88 people

For roast meats, there's a little shop with no English name on the south side of Beach St..next to Korea House....60 something Beach

mapquest can help you locate these places.

There are 2 Super 88 markets in Boston. One is in South Bay Shopping Center in Dorchester and the other is in Allston, near Boston University.

Here's what Superpages has to say; you can use the info in Mapquest.

      Super 88
1095 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA 02215
      (617) 787-2288

      Super 88
101 Allstate Road, Dorchester, MA 02125
      (617) 541-5624

Super 88 in Allston is at the Packard's Corner T stop on the B Green Line I think.

Yup. Just about where Comm Ave & Brighton Ave split. They have a parking lot, too.

Isn't there one on Washington Street past NEMC?

          1. re: joypirate

            It's past NEMC...on Harrison..

No, it is on the corner of Washington and Herald Street.

                You're correct.

I "know" where it is, because I go there pretty regularly. I called them a few weeks ago, to get an exact address for the questioner. They said what sounded like "Harrison" but they were saying "Herald"...slight language barrier.

I've always been very pleased with the quality of the vegetables at Cheng Kwong. Fresh and well trimmed.

Hear, hear. They have that special ginger, lots of different chois, and I've had good luck with the fish too. Best of all, they are so convenient for shopping apres dim sum at Chau Chow City. Though a little less so now that I've switched my allegiance to Empire Garden and Pacific Garden for dim sum. 8^)

Tank fish, or fish on ice?

        4. I prefer the Sun Sun Market on 18 Oxford Street, located just down the street from the Taiwan Cafe. The shelves are well organized and the quality of the fresh things are a step up from most of the competion.

          1. i kind of like ming's on the other side of the pike. you can walk there if you go along washington street from chinatown towards the new england medical center, or you can take the silver line, and it drops you off right there, right past the teradyne building on the left. the super 88 is there, too, on the right side.
