pumpernickel bread -- help!

I need to buy a round pumpernickel loaf tonight, somewhere in the Brookline/Allston/Brighton area. Any ideas? I tried Clear Flour already; they don't have pumpernickel on Mondays. Even supermarket bread will do in a pinch ...

  1. Bread and Circus on Washington is probably your Best Bet to be able to get all different purveyors that can be good

    1. Shaws is the best of the supermarket pumpenickels (a round so-called Black Forest loaf, IIRC -- on the soft side, but a nice texture and flavor as far as it goes).

      1. We like Zaftig's

        1. If it comes to supermarket bread, When Pigs Fly pumpernickel is pretty good.
