Resurrecting an old post which I would love the answer to. It's such an easy dish to make, and so ubiquitous in London, I can't believe there aren't any restaurants that do something similar in Boston. Has anyone encountered a version? I think it's chinese name is (xiang su ya 香酥鴨), but I'm not sure I've ever seen that on a menu.

I was just looking at the menu for the Hong Kong in Harvard Square, and saw that they have "Crispy Roasted Long Island Duck" Whole or Half for 23.75/12.95.
Chinese characters on the menu are 脆皮火鴨

Has anyone tried this?

Chinese just reads crispy skin roast duck, which could just be your average Chinese roast duck. Never heard of a "Long Island" duck.

Chef Chow's in Brookline which is a pretty conventional chinese american restaurant actually does two nice crispy ducks: a decent Peking Duck and a Hunan Plum Crispy Duck (I think that's what it's called). Kobuta, I assume the Long Island refers to the origin of the duck (LI ducks used to be considered top quality birds).

Yah ditto, back in the day Long Island duck meant local and high quality.
