Just a quick note for the Boston Hounds:
Gordon's in Waltham (my favorite wine store) is having their annual grand tasting tomorrow. Best of all, it's free!
This is not your usual wine store Saturday tasting with half a dozen open bottles. This is their once a year grand tasting with 150 or so wines.
Saturday October 19th Noon to 5:00 pm
Gordon's Fine Wines & Liquor
894 Main Street
Can't begin to say how worthwhile this event is and thanks to Striper Guy for the heads up! I do shop at Gordon's a couple of times a month and have had very good advice from employees when I needed it. This tasting of 100 plus wines featured VERY knowledgeable wine reps, and a great range of kinds, countries, and prices of wines. It was well run, well attended. If you can get there today, do it! Stuck mostly to cabs and zins--Franciscan, Merryvale, Arrrowood, Silvarado, Mondavi--lots of good choices! Had found myself drinking mostly CA wines lately, and enjoyed trying Greek, Spanish and Australian, and revisiting Bordeaux and Medoc choices. Not a lot of Italian wines, unless I somehow missed them. Lovely selection of olives, cheeses, breads, fruit and crackers too.
