Sultans Kitchen

  • 9

Just had a lamb and eggplant sandwich from this place. I had forgotten how good it was..all sorts of Turkish and Middle Eastern specialties..Broad St in downtown.

  1. The owner is one of New England's culinary treasures. I wish HE had a TV show to demonstrate why Turkish cuisine ranks way up their among the greatest cuisines.

    1. A great place indeed, but the felafel is priced for the financial district suit-and-tie crowd, when it ought to be cheap street food!

It's priced to allow for the fact that he's covering the expense of a space in the middle of the financial district that includes room for a large number of tables and chairs upstairs. Street food can be cheaper because the vendor has far lower overhead.

I get the economics... I'm just saying that 6 or 7 bucks for a felafel is a bit much. And it's not like the ambience is SO great that it's worth the markup.

      2. This is one of my absolute favorite places in Boston, and will trek there whenever I find myself in the Haymarket or Downtown Crossing area at lunchtime.

Did you have dessert? Oh, to have some of their almond pudding right now...

        1. I'd also like to point out that Sultan's Kitchen delivers until 8 pm!

          1. Where is it, exactly???????
