River Gods

  • d

Went there on friday night.... wow what a surprise! It looks like a gothic church inside but the food is so fresh and inexpensive! We had the Korean handrolls.... very fresh and tasty... simalar to a california roll... then the duck..... oh wow.... cooked to perfection and served with potato pancakes and an interesting sauce which I had a hard time figuring out what exactly it was! Please go and try this place out... very limited menu, however but sooo good!

it used to be the charles river sports bar. very sketchy-looking. they have an awesome sound system inside as well. the one time i went the kitchen had already closed . . .

in addition to their food, which i personally thought was so-so, they have great music (dj) on various nights. for example, tuesday nights are called eavesdrop and they play upcoming albums w/ an independent spririt. fun.

    2. Thanks for this review! I've passed by it a bunch of times without going in; I thought it was *still* a divey bar.(which, of course, is sometimes a very good thing.) Had no idea they even served food, let alone hound-worthy chow. One question: do you know if they're open for lunch??

I do not know...... the burgers looked fantastic though! do try!

      2. This is a great little place, although it can get very crowded. It's also (according to the owner...?) the only bar in the Boston area independently owned by a woman. Lovely Irish woman that used to bartend over at the Thirsty Scholar.
