Most outstanding find since I discovered ketchup at age three. Very earthy/crunchy (crunchy being just this side of crispy) and very Californicated environment and very outstanding Pizza. Folk music some nights. Cool place, great wood-fired pizza, go there. Amesbury, yup. I know I couldn't believe it myself!!!!!!!!

OF COURSE, AMESBURY !! WHATEVER YOUR PAST EXPERIENCES WERE IN AMESBURY - GIVE THE TOWN ANOTHER YEAR AND IT'LL BE EVEN BETTER.
SCANDIA'S (FORMERLY OF NEWBURYPORT) IS SETTING UP SHOP THERE IN OCTOBER. AND DON'T FORGET WILD BITES, WHICH IS AN EXCELLENT RESTAURANT JUST OFF THE CENTER.
    THE TOWN IS REINVENTING ITSELF.

I really liked Scandia- glad to hear they are bouncing somewhere.

(BTW, please consider not posting in all capital letters. It sounds like you are shouting.)

i wasn't aware of the etiquette on this site for capital versus small letter in relation to aggressive tones. now that i know, i will follow the policy ....

Oops, sorry if I came off harsh, chessqueen. It's actually not just a Chowhound etiquette thing, it's an internet etiquette thing. When people in newsgroups and online discussion boards want to emphasize a word, sometimes they will capitalize it. So if a whole post is in capitals, it sort of "sounds" like someone is screaming the message. And I personally have a hard time reading all caps, it gets tiresome.

But Chowhound doesn't have any sort of policy about it, as far as I know. You are certianly welcome to choose your own style, and please don't let my comment make you feel unwelcome here. You seem to have some great knowledge of Boston-area food and I hope you'll stick around.

Flatbread is great pizza, certainly the best in this area, with wonderful toppings and decent wine and beer selections.

And while I know Scandia is eventually moving to Amesbury, I wasn't all that enamoured of the place when I ate in the Newburyport location. Extremely slow service on a Wednesday evening, dirty fork (which was, however, promptly replaced when it was brought to the attention of the server), and only OK food - nothing jumped out at me and my dining companion. Took forever to get the bill, too.

It's replacement on State St. in Newburyport, an Italian bistro, looks very promising. Still don't know when it's opening (although I haven't been downtown in a few weeks...)
