Hi All -
anyone been to Lumiere recently? Is it still as hard as it used to be to get a reservation? And is it still as good? I've had many an excellent meal there, but haven't been in almost a year... just wondering if there's been any changes.....
was just there a couple weeks ago. slightly disappointed with the meal, as (1) i'd had an unbelievable 11-course meal at 71 clinton fresh food the night before, and (2) i'd also had very high expectations from the rave reviews i'd heard. i can't determine whether it's changed, but it doesn't seem all that different from the usual upscale neighborhood place.
the steak tartare was overwhelmingly ginger-y, tasting more like the filling of my mom's dumplings than like proper steak tartare. (granted, my mom's dumplings are amazing, but that's not what we ordered.)
apps & entrees were tasty overall, just not interesting or particularly special in any way. unmemorable, for the most part.
worst part: creme brulee was charred. probably should have sent it back, but come on, that's just unacceptable.
our waiter was a bit standoffish. even frosty, i'd say, and that was not so great, as we were there celebrating my sister's birthday, and she's a BIG stickler for quality service.
bottom-line: i'm not going back. there are better places for the same (albeit high) price.
