Fresh Home-Made Margaritas
Big BEACHDAY/BBQ/CLAMBAKE this WEEKEND at CHEZ CRISPY and I NEED A REALLY GOOD MARGARITA RECIPE, CHOWHOUND-APPROVED. THE REAL DEAL NOT FROZEN SLURPEES. I LIKE REAL LIME JUICE and I KNOW I NEED TRIPLE-SEC. HELP ME OUT THANKS!!!!!!!!
I do the following:
Make a juice mixture of fresh lime juice 3 parts to one part fresh orange juice (you can cheat and use tropicana).
3 shots juice mixture
1 or more teaspoons sugar
1/2 shot triple sec or gran marnier
1-2 shots tequila
The proporations can very a lot. Some folks like 'em tart, some sweet. Some folks like the juice, some like the tequila. I add the orange juice cause it rounds out the flavor and takes a little of the tartness off the lime.
love these margaritas: squeeze equal parts fresh lime, lemon and orange juice into a pitcher. fill your shaker with ice and 1 1/2 oz good tequila, 3/4 oz countreau (sorry about the spelling)and top with the juice mix to taste - probably about 5 oz. then just wipe the rim of the glass with a lime and dip in kosher salt. fill 'er up and enjoy!
