  1. I voted for Emma's.

    1. Not that it matters much, but I agree with the editorial choice of the original Pizzaria Regina pizza being #1.

      BUT...

They also have the chain Bertucci's as #2!

They have the (IMHO only!) incredibly awful California Pizza Kitchen in the top 10.

If they include chains like Bertucci's and California Pizza, they at least should give Pizzaria Uno a small mention at least, since it's better than both of these I think. Yet it's not even on their top 20!

One thing that bothers me about pizza is that it's very easy to make, so when I see these "best pizza" lists I think to myself "Oh come on, ANYONE can make their own great pizza". This sounds really insulting, but hey, look at the people in pizza places that make the pizza!! On the other hand, I can also understand not wanting to spend the time.

      Hmmm.
Looking at their top Italian restaurants list, I notice that the Vinny Testa's chain is #3 (!!) and Olive Garden is #7. (Olive Garden???!)

I'd say that unless a lot more Chowhounders vote on this site that the current list is pretty unreliable.

It can't be that easy..most of the pizza made is not all that good...I'm not sure what you mean by "look at the people in pizza places," but some of those guys are artists and craftsman. Do you really think it's that easy to stand in front of a hot oven all day and turn out a few hundred delicious pizzas..like the pizza guys at Regina's, Santarpios..or any other top pizza place?

No, but it's certainly not hard to make just one!

(Particularly if you have a breadmaker which makes the hardest part [the crust] that much easier.)

I went through all the different categories last night. Who made some of those selctions? The ranking, I believe, is just for each day. At the end, everything gets tallied. What is wrong with people, The Olive Garden was actually ranked higher than "real" Italian restaurants. Also, when I voted Maggianos was number one. Now I like it there, but how can you compare that to Prezza or other high end places in the North End. Taco Bell actually ranked in the middle of the pack for late night dining.

Don't be dismayed... the polls on citysearch.com tend to be geared toward john q. public, not chowhounds. These are places that cater to (and are prefered by) the masses. We all know that these choices are bogus. Take it all with a large grain of salt.

What about Digital City for the same lists/suggestions? I often compare the two sites just to see what's in common.

I must vote for Kelly's Pub in East Boston. I have tried Santarpio's and Bianchi's which people rave about and was not too impresses. Kelly's pie was the best. It gets my vote hands down.
