Pearl Tea Outisde of Chinatown

charlieg Apr 25, 2002 12:25 PM

Pearl tea (aka boba, bubble, etc.) has appeared in Allston at Color, a Korean restaurant on Harvard Ave. I visited it with my fiancee last night and was underwhelmed. The drinks (she: mango, me: almond) were clearly made from a mix or concentrate and were not very cold. The pearls were a bit mushy. The selection of flavors was fairly limited, certainly compared to Juice Bar in the Chinatown Eatery. The overall quality was definitely below that of Juice Bar. It would do in a pinch, but for my $3.50 Juice Bar remains worth the trip and the wait.

Does anyone else know of any other pearl purveyors outside of Chinatown?

Try May's cafe in Allston. Search the archive for address. They have a Pearl tea bar. Try it hot... it's pretty interesting.
