Quick and near The Orpheum

  • j

I will be at a concert next week at The Orpheum in Boston and will only have about an hour to grab something. Any suggestions?

  1. Chinatown is just a few blocks away.

Thanks. Any specific suggestions in Chinatown? Haven't lived in Boston for 7 years.

The two closest are Taiwan Cafe, at 34 Oxford St, for unusual(for Chinatown) and cheap Taiwanese fare, and Nam Vang, 7 Beach street, for great, filling, flavorful Vietnamese soups...TC has beer and sake, if that matters....

Penang is a very good choice too. just make sure you are there right before 6 pm as there is always a line esp. during the weekends. order the apps. (roti canai, satay, poh piah, achar) and try the many stir fry noodles (mee siam, char kuey teaw).

      3. Silvertone on Bromfield St. It's one block away, fancy home cooking. It gets crowded but it shouldn't take long. Also Penn's Pub on Bromfield for burgers and sandwiches (I think that's still the name of it). The Kinsale at Government Center Plaza is okay. And there's Fajitas and Ritas on West St. and the nicer West St. Grill next door.

        1. Cafe Istanbul for nice Turkish food. It's on Bowdin St. About a ten minute walk past Government Center.
