Does anyone know of any good German restaurants in the Boston area?

Jacob Wirth on Stuart St. is the only one I know of.

Jacob Wirth is awful - to be avoided at all costs.

I disagree..not gourmet food but if you stick to the German dishes..knockwurst, bratwurst,etc..you'll enjoy it..great clam chowder...great beer selection. The atmosphere is the closest thing to a German beer hall this side of the Atlantic.

I went to Jake Wirth's a few months ago and had a simple but great dinner--the German mixed grill--sausages and an amazing, mustardy potato salad. We were all surprised and impressed by the food. Plus the atmosphere is great--the room is big and spare and simple, white walls, dark trim, bentwood chairs. The waitress was awful, but then again, it was Friday--singalong piano night--and she may have been a little cranky.

          Carrie,

When were you there last? Jacob Wirth has a new chef and reports are that, after several years of steady decline, the food has gotten much better lately.
