Just moved into town and am looking for great Mexican. Any ideas? I have heard great things about Cafe Romero but not much else.

Try the Forest Cafe on Mass Ave, between Harvard and Porter Squares in Cambridge. After living many years in Calif. and enjoying GOOD Mexican food, this is one of the very few that even qualifies as authentic in the Boston area.

Try La Viva Burito, Staniford Street, off Cambridge Street between Beacon Hill and Fleet Center. No waitress service and open air kitchen. Fast service, quality dishes, and you can even get a beer.

Tu Y Yo in Somerville is my favorite. Here's a link to their website:

If you're looking for a simple taqueria, check out Taqueria La Mexicana in Union Square. Excellent burritos, in a soft and pliable flour tortilla, and fantastic vegetable tamales and chiles rellenos.

Which Union Square? Allston or Somerville?

You must go to Tacos el Charro in Jamaica Plain, at 349 Centre Street in the Hyde Square section.
A friend of mine from Mexico thinks it's the most authentic Mexican restaurant he's been to outside of his home country...and great authentic Mariachi music on weekends.

This is the real thing. Just 1/2 mile from Porter Square on the corner of Somerville Ave and Elm.

Although it should be mentioned that Tacos Lupita is El Salvadorean, not Mexican. But I'll second the notion; best Central American (lets say) food in Boston.
