Soup at Taco Lupitas

I know that Taco Lupitas has already garnered much attention on this board, but I had an experience this weekend that I thought was worth posting. On Friday-Sunday, they offer soup selections (chicken on Friday, beef on Saturday, and tripe on Sunday -- each is $6). On Friday, I wandered in at lunch and decided to try the chicken soup. In a word -- amazing!
It took about fifteen minutes to prepare and was served in a large bowl (like a Vietnamese soup noodle). In the bowl was a yellow-orange broth with many flavors -- definitely some cumin and a plethora of other spices. Chunks of roast chicken were complemented by huge tender pieces of carrots, potatoes, zucchini, and cabbage. A bone with meat falling off of it was prominently sticking out from the center, and elbow maccaroni was interspersed throughout. On the side (and what I think made the dish), were three small containers. One had pieces of lime (to squeeze in the juice), one had hot sauce/salsa, and one had raw onion mixed with cilantro. Finally, they served two hot corn tortillas on the side. It was awesome -- I slurped every last spoonful.
I went back on Saturday to try the beef soup. This was very good, though not as memorable as the chicken (the broth was more like a beef bouillon/stew broth). Many vegetables (including one I didn't recognize -- it looked like a potato, but tasted somewhat more doughy) and succulent pieces of stewed meat. Same sides, same corn tortillas. Very good, but the chicken did more for me.
In any case, I'd definitely recommend giving the soups a try if you happen to wander in on a weekend.
