I am planning a trip to an Afghan restaurant with a few of my friends, we will probably go to the Helmand in Cambridge. If anyone knows of a better Afghan restaurant I would appreciate the advice. Also if anyone has been to the Helmand and could offer a few suggestions as to what is best to order i would greatly appreciate it.

The Helmand is amazing!!! I have not ordered anything off the menu and not enjoyed it thoroughly. The menu is a bit confusing at first, because it seems like the same dishes are listed redundantly. Essentially, all the appetizers can be had with meat or vegetarian. All the appetizers are also integrated into entrees as well. The pumpkin appetizer is fantastic, and be sure to try the 3 sauces that are brought to the table. The bread is wonderful with each of them. My personal favorite entree is the lamb shanks over rice with glazed carrots and raisins. They also do a great spinach and rice entree.
    ENJOY!!!
