terrific Thai in Malden

Just had a terrific lunch at a place called the White Elephant in Malden, off Route 60 just outside Malden Center. Had the Lac Luc (?) salad with an incredible dipping sauce of salt, pepper, lemon and a touch of lime - really phenomenal. The chef talked with us for a while about the history of Thai/Cambodian/Laotian food and shared with us his approach to cooking (changes a bit every day). The place looks like a hole in the wall but the food is fantastic and they are clearly willing and happy to talk to customers about recommendations and special dishes. A surprisingly wonderful experience! Lunches ranged from $5 - $7 from what I recall. (My mother told me that the chef's mother cooked her pad thai once.) Try it out!
