Hidden Jewel in W. Medford

Saturday I had dinner at this fabulous spot: Bistro 5 in West Medford off Rt. 60. The ambience is delightful and romantic, the special was an incredible oven roasted rack of lamb with grilled polenta, and the staff is reason alone for me to go back. Almost forgot to mention that you can bring your own wine! Bistro 5 is a must...

I noticed Bistro 5 the other day as I was driving by. Is it new? What is the price range? It looked promising, so I'm so glad to hear that the food is good!

I've been meaning to go there forever, one of these days. That's the space where the Torch people started out.

I second the nod for Bistro 5. This is exactly my type of restaurant. Small, cozy, and intimate atmposphere. Friendly service. Extremely good food that's not too fussy, and BYOB!!! The one strike against it is that the food can be a bit hit or miss. Of the ten dishes (or so) I've tried there, there were certainly some misses. Unfortunately, I can't remeber them right now.

Bistro 5 has probably one of the best and underappreciated chefs in the Boston area (Vittorio Ettore) I still think of the calamari there, perfectly fried with a cherry tomato/ginger chutney on top (and will always be on the menu the staff says) and an unbelievable herbed risotto with pan seared scallops I have never had a miss here....I only wish I got out to W Medford more often.
