Best Boston Cream Pie?

I'm about to embark on a quest for the best boston cream pie in Boston - fudgie chocolate, thick cream, rich cake, yummm.

Looking for recommendations to try and to avoid in my search. Would like the pie to be available in Boston, but for true excellence, would be willing to travel further afield.

For a pick up and eat at home option I like what they are carrying at the Wagon Wheel on the Waltham/Lexington line. Great fudge-y icing.

Haven't had it in a while but every time I've had it from Spinelli's (in Lynnfield) it was stunningly delicious.

I have not personally tried it, but Flour Bakery does make a Boston Cream Pie. Their desserts can be great or not, in my experience, but it seems at least worth trying.

I have had Flour's Boston Cream Pie, and liked it quite a lot.

I've had it in various sizes and adored it. My healthy eating husband went back for thirds. Even he could not resist it. Flour Boston cream pie is my cake of choice for all special occasions since my first bite at a friends party.

Too funny, I met some people from London when I was at Pete's Pub and they were on a quest for Boston Cream Pie. I told them I though the Omni Parker was the only place they would find it since I hadn't seen it on a menu in years. Less then a week later it was listed as a special at Paddy O's and a couple of other Irish Pubs in that area. I never thought of the Oak Room!

Has anybody had it at its birthplace, the Omni Parker (not then the Omni, of course), in recent years? Just curious.

I had it there during Rest. Week a couple years ago. It was good but I think the Oak Room is better.

I had it there a few months ago and Joanie has it correct.

I have had it at the Parker house lately. They sell it in their gift shop. It's delicious but quite costly. Don't laugh but I bought an amazingly delicious one at Hannafords grocery the other day. It was for no special occasion and I knew my husband would like it. We all did.

Lyndell's bakery on Broadway in Somverville has the tastiest BCP. The layers of buttery, moist cake sandwich the rich creamy pudding and it's topped with the perfect amount of chocolate frosting/icing. It is the best one out there.

The Oak Room at the Copley Plaza has the best I've tried.

I will second the Oak Room. If they do not have it as a dessert selection, just ask. They always have it in the back.

Any chance they would serve it at the bar? I'd rather not have to have a full dinner at the Oak Room just to try this, but I would definitely like to try it!
