South Shore Restaurants

Any Chowhounders want to weigh in on the following South Shore restaurants:

Red Lion Inn, Cohasset (newly opened inn & restaurant -- we read this winter that the chef from Ambrosia was opening the kitchen, is it true?)

Bernards, Cohasset

Tosca, Hingham

Saporito's, Hull

Mount Blue, Norwell

Petit Paris, Scituate

Riva, Scituate

Any others worth mentioning? Thanks Chowhounders!!!

  1. I've been to Sapparitos, Tosca and Mount Blue. Sapparitos is probably the best resto on the South Shore if you can include Hull as South Shore, small and fun, the food is great and the servers (at least on my visits)were fun, informative and had no attituide. I had a sweetbread ravioli there a while ago that was out of this world. Tosca is the most "Boston-ish" resto on the S.Shore, good food, the servers are by and large pros and the servings are quite large, some inovative wines and a real pretty setting. Mount Blue is as much a bar as a resto in my opinion. The Pub like atmosphere is really inviting. I haven't eaten there in a while, I had a really dissapointing Osso Buco this winter and the servers seem to survive on the regulars so a new face is not always going to fare as well. I still like going there for beers. On the whole it is ok.
