I used to live in Somerville years ago, Union Square to be exact, and there was a great bar that also served fantastic burgers and other food which they grilled over a real flame. IT was Chapter 11 or something like that. I am visiting Boston in a week and was wondering if that place still exists and if they still serve great food. PLease let me know.
Ah yes, the 11th Chapter -- a tiny Irish bar in Union Square with a bankruptcy theme. Sadly, the 11th chapter was aptly named...
Fortunately, though, the new bar that occupies the same space is quite good in its own right. It's actually not very different at all. The new name is Tir Na Nog (Gaelic for "water of eternal life" or some such -- I've seen lots of toy stores and children's clothing stores under the same name).
Tir Na Nog won Best of Boston at least once for "Best Irish Bar," but don't let that dissuade you. It still has a lot of the neighborhood mix that the 11th had, and they still pour an excellent pint. I haven't had any food there in a while, and I don't have any specific recollections, but I do have a general sense that it was at the very least much better than average pub food.
If you do go there, please give us all an update.
