Hi Fellow Hounds...
I'm traveling from Vermont to a conference in Springfield. The only saving grace is that we may find some great food in that city amid the crowds at the conference. Does anyone have any good ideas???? Thanks for your help.

  1. You're twenty minutes south of the Amherst-Northampton area. If you have wheels, you might consider taking 91 North up there. Check the New England board for specific restaurant recommendations.

Best place in Springfield MA: The Student Prince and Fort Restaurant, 8-14 Fort Street, 413-734-7475, They just celebrated their 65th Anniversary. Gourmet Continental - German oriented. Lunch is exellent New England fare. Try shortribs, Kassler Rippchen, in house made Bratwurst, German apprenticed Chef/Butcher.
"Rupprecht", was known as Ruppert (Scherff), (current owners' father) passed into chefs heaven a few years back. He was my mentor. I am a chef , now retired. Still vouch for the quality, variety and ambience of the "Prince" as we lovingly call the place. Go, mention my name and you will get good service and food, ask for Rudi, Peter, Barbara or "Hubie". I am serious. Please drop me an email with your after the visit comments: kanope@juno.com
