Visited Boston last weekend, and got a great tip from these boards that I wanted to resurrect: the juice stand at the Chinatown Eatery, 46 Beach Street, 2d floor. All sorts of great fresh juices and shakes--papaya, watermelon, coconut, ice milk with red beans, sweet tea. I got mango with pearls--didn't know what they were, but all the Asian young folk in front of me were getting them so I followed suit--sticky, sweet balls of goo. Straws wide enough to suck up one pearl at a time. Perfect accompaniment to Vietnamese food.

  1. I followed my first recommendation from this board and got juice at the Chinatown Eatery. They were out of green tea, so I ended up getting the mango juice with pearls as well. It was a wonderful, cooling, mid-day drink.

Also, I didn't see Chau Chow at 52 Beach... I'm thinking maybe it closed down...

I had first posted a message on this board asking for good lunches in the Fort Point Channel/Financial District area. Really, Chinatown is nearby, so it's always wonderful to find good food in that area. I previously worked in Cambridge and ate at Salamanders quite often for lunch. I was wondering if there was a similar quality takeout lunch place in downtown Boston.
