The newswires suggest that Biba burned to the ground Thursday? Is it true? Was it that calamitous? Any news?
According to the Globe, a fire broke out in the kitchen's ductwork, causing $500,000 worth of damages and forcing the restaurant to close. I'm not sure whether they'll reopen; the link on the Globe website doesn't work.
According to today's Globe, chef Lydia Shire hopes to have the restaurant back up and running in two weeks: here's the link to the article.
They answered their phones today and everything--I think the bar may already be open. Which is to say--hooray!
