Best Caramel Cake in Birmingham

I am craving caramel cake, but I am having a hard time finding any that meets my expectations. Used to get delicious, moist cakes from a farmer's market in Cahaba Heights, but they stopped carrying them! Any recommendations? Thanks!

Someone on Urban Spoon is raving about the caramel cake at Klingler's European Bakery.

The cakes at Joe's Italian in Alabaster are pretty phenomenal. I have not tried their caramel cake (saw it behind the glass), but if it is as good as their other desserts, you might be happy.

Not to hijack this, but what about the best peanut butter pie in Bham? That's what I'm hankering for.I had a spectacular slab at Big Bolton's BBQ in Springville, but that's too far to drive.

Can't vouch for it, but Marta's Bakery, which is in Cahaba Heights not far from Murphree's farmer's market, makes caramel cake. In case it was near you, here's a link:

Stella, I'm a caramel cake person too! I make it at home a few times a year - but when you don't feel like pulling out the candy thermometer and keeping tabs on cooking sugar...

In the past, I really liked the caramel cakes at Angel's Cakes and Confections which was located in Crestline Village, across from Surin. Angel's storefront is closed (I think the owner still does catering) but from what I understand, she was continuing to bake caramel cakes, and delivering them to the little seafood market a few doors down. The name of that market escapes me, but it's either on that block or the next one.

It's been a while since I've checked, though, so you might want to call Janet and make certain she is still delivering before you make a special trip.

There's a pic of the caramel cake here - and her phone # if you want to call - on Angel's website: http://angelsconfections.com/

As an employee at Marta's Bakery in Cahaba Heights, I CAN vouch for it . :-) ... The caramel cake is incredible!
Stella~ I asked Marta to be certain & indeed, she used to sell several items, including the caramel cakes at Murphree's Farmer's Market. This was several years back, but we still make the same recipe & sell them exclusively at Marta's Bakery.
