Typing this for my employer- she's travelling soon near Jackson (MS), Tulsa (OK), Little Rock (AR). My blood is in the creole country (land of milk and honey) but she's 199% California (lol) ... show her a good time, or at least from the kitchen?

She likes creole, etc; open to all types of greasy spoons, down home, buttermilk & fish, you name it.

Show her the food I've been missing and she'll be eternally grateful (and so will I for having y'all be so nice).

Peace and Happy Holidays from a native son.

I would second Doe's Eat Place - but the one I know about is in Greenville MS. She will have to ask where it is to find it. A real experience, but the best steaks I have had in a restaurant - any place - any time. Don't let the location or looks of the establishment fool you - (Actually that is what makes it such an experience). We used to travel to Greenville for work, and if any of our major clients were with us they ALWAYS wanted to go to Doe's for a steak.

Greenwood has a few great places. Crystal Grill, plus the Viking Range kingdom. Lusco's too.

Oxford is a little out of the way but worth it for L&M Salumeria and City Grocery.

Craig's BBQ in Devall's Bluff and the Pie shop are an hour from LR between LR and Memphis.

In Jackson, try Cock of the Walk, for simple southern food.

If heading to the Delta, don't miss the following:

Greenville: Doe's
Greenwood: Lusco's
Clarksdale: Abe's BBQ

Greenwood has the best food in the Delta and The Alluvian Hotel in Greenwood owned by Viking Range is a World Class 5 Star Hotel with a great restaurant, Giardinia's......Don't miss Lusco's and Crystal Grill. If you get close to Cleveland try KC's and Crawdad's in Merigold. Tater's right about Doe's in Greenville.......a sure don't miss place. It's on Nelson St. going west off Broadway in the low rent district........

Go To SFA Oral History and Click on Greenwood for Lusco's et al............

If it's Clarksdale try Madidi's and Ground Zero owned by Morgan Freeman. I prefer Greenwood myself. If they go through Rosedale try White Front Cafe on Main St. for tamales and Blue Levee Market for lunch/dinner. Rosedale is on River Road # 1.........
