Thanksgiving dinner is a phone call away

You want to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner but you don't want to spend all day in the kitchen.
The following restaurants and caterers are offering takeout or dine-in for the holiday. If your favorite isn't on the list, call them to check on holiday hours and special offerings.
Alfred's: Opens at 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. 197 Beale; 525-3711.
Aunt Joyce's Restaurant & Catering: Turkey with dressing and gravy (10-12 lb. for $39.95; 18-20 lb. for $59.95); complete turkey dinner with all trimmings ($79.95); side dishes and desserts available. Pickup by 5 p.m. Nov. 23 at 5210 Pleasant View. Closed Thanksgiving Day. Call 387-1901.
Central BBQ: Smoked turkeys ($27.99 plus tax). Order by Sunday; available for pickup Monday through Wednesday. Closing at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Call 272-9377.
Chatterbox Restaurant: Deep-fried turkeys ($35); chocolate, caramel and coconut pies ($10), sheet cakes ($15) and layer cakes ($20). Marlowe's: Opens at 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Day with a turkey dinner special for $8.95. Smoked, Cajun-fried and baked turkeys available to order ($40). Deadline for turkey orders 2 p.m. Nov. 22. Neely's Bar-B-Que: Smoked turkeys ($29.99) and hickory-smoked hams ($49.99). Available for pickup at 670 Jefferson (call 521-9798) and 5700 Mt. Moriah (795-4177) between 10:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily except Thanksgiving Day, when the restaurants are closed

Pig-N-Whistle: Smoked turkeys ($32.99); fried turkeys ($38.99). Gravy, dressing, other sides available. Available for pickup Thanksgiving week during business hours and from 8 to 11 a.m. Thanksgiving Day. Restaurants closed to dine-in customers on Thanksgiving Day. From the list Ike posted, it looks like Alfred's, The Doubletree Hotel, Frank Grisanti's, Marlowe's, and Neil's are all open in Memphis. Of those, Alfred's, Marlowe's and Neil's are likely to be the most inexpensive.
A little research on the web (checking for restaurants with music calendars) turns up an open Isaac Hayes, BB King's, and Brunch at the Peabody (their steakhouse is also open).
Or he can hit the casinos.
