Two NYC Hounds, One Sunday Night in Charleston
A friend of mine and I will be spending Sunday night in Charleston in a few weeks (tail end of golf trip) and are looking for a great restaurant, as well as any recommendations on nightlife: any particular places that one should not miss or CofC spots that are busy on Sunday (admittedly not expecting much on a Sunday in February)? Have been to Carolina's, Magnolia's, SNOB and Cru in the past, and think something like SNOB would fit the bill this time around. Anyone have any thoughts or best to stick with SNOB? Also, considering Peninsula or Chas Grill: can someone give me a sense of what dinner might come to at one of those places? Do they have tasting menus? I have been reading past threads but just wanted to see where people would go if they had one night. Thanks G

considering Peninsula or Chas Grill...........I would not hesitate over either unless you want to try McCrady's.................

Just had a wonderful meal at Poogan's Porch. Two apps - fried green tomatoes and crab-stuffed portabellos, the pork tenderloin and the deep-water scallops plus a $28 bottle of wine ran us an even $100 with the tip. Don't know when I have enjoyed a better meal anywhere in Charleston and I live here.

I remember a lunch I had at Poogan's Porch waaaay back in the mid-80s. In particular, the biscuits were the fluffiest and most delectible I've ever tasted.
Fell apart at the touch. Mmmmmm.

Poogan's Porch is as stated. I also like 82 Queen. Almost next door. Can't go wrong with either.

You know, With the consideration of the Charleston Grill, Peninsula, and McCrady's, one shouldnt overlook the posh Cypress. The lure for me was the decor, service impeccable, and the cuisine was some of the most imaginative and flavorful works of art I have been privvied to. The Pastry Chef is also one of the most amazing people I have met. I asked her out to the table to complement her Key lime Cheesecake and she did. Very down to earth and Talented. I have made it my place to go when visiting charleston.

Charleston Grill is one of our favorite and most memorable places to eat! Classy, great service and food! Will definitely pay for it in the bill, but worth it! Can't remember if they have a tasting menu or not. Do remember outstanding butternut squash soup, among other things. Would fit the bill for NYC hounds!
