Brunch in Richmond

I'm looking to take a group to Sunday brunch in the Richmond area. Where's the best place to go with breakfast food, lunch food, vegetarian food that also takes reservations. Thanks.

okay it is a trek depending on where you are and they only take reservations for 8 (they do have call ahead though) but we just did brunch at the boathouse at sunday park for father's day and it was LOVELY. the setting was magical and kept the kids entertained because we did wait a while for our food. a few dishes were ordinary but nothing bad but the spinach strata and bloody mary and sausage gravy were very yummy! would DEFINITELY go back. prices were shockingly reasonable. i felt like i was on vacation.

This is a place I forget about. I haven't been and several people I know have had good experiences there, but I have a mental block in regard to it (and it's fairly close to me).

exactly. it was BEAUTIFUL. i felt like i was in hilton head. and seriously a few dishes were outstanding. we got there RIGHT when they opened and there was a bit of a line. not certain it'd be worth the 2 hour wait i think they sometimes have but for a special occasion (we had father's day and my son's 3rd birthday) it really was a great spot. worth checking out.

try the spinach strata. and a bloody mary. mmm....

Will do....we considered it for our daughter's wedding next spring but ended up finding another place that is perfect. But it was definitely on the short list.

well it took about 20 minutes to get there and i felt about 2 hours from home on vacation. so well worth it imho. they're opening one at rockett's landing. maybe that'd be more up your alley.

oh and here's the website. although honestly on a pretty day like sunday was, i think it's prettier than this.

I travel to Richmond from time to time for business and was recommended the brunch at the Jefferson otel. It was touted as the best in the city. I found it to be average at best in food quality with the exception of the deserts, which tempted me with their variety and tastes. The service was very good, not too hovering but always there to meet my needs. BTW, this was the hotel whose bannister was used for a scene in GWTW.

          Millie's Diner

          2603 E Main St, Richmond 23223 · 804-643-5512

Description: CHURCH HILL. A popular spot, Millie's is usually crowded with loyal customers waiting to taste goodies like the spicy omelets expertly prepared by chef Joe Merolli. Don't worry, the prices are just as pleasing as the cheery atmosphere and friendly service. Brunch starts at nine on Sunday, but go early to get at the head of the rapidly expanding line.

And for a FUN Sunday Brunch- try Godfrey's--it is a Gay restaurant that has straight clientele on Sunday for Brunch-waiters are in Drag--

I love Godfrey's but I think you need to make reservations in advance. Last time I went, we made reservations a couple of weeks in advance.

Millie's is always good. Can-Can in Carytown is good, too, and the atmosphere is really fun.

This is NOT the hotel whose bannister was used for a scene in Gone With the Wind - that is an urban legend. The bannister used in the movie was built on a Hollywood set and dismantled after filming (just like Tara).

well, the banister/grand staircase thing is part true, allegedly. the actual claim by the people at The Jefferson is that it was the inspiration for the movie set.

that said, i recommend tobacco company or really anywhere in the sockhoe area.

Definitely do not recommend Tobacco Company for anything other than cocktails and picking up people.
