I've found Viet, true Mexican, decent Japanese but no good Chinese. I've got cravin' for some Kung Pao chicken or something resembling...

Formosa (various locations, but I've only gone to the one on Quince at Kirby), is probably my favorite Chinese. I also dig on Peking Inn on Elvis Presley. My Chinese tastes tend to run more mainstream, although I despise something like 80% of Chinese Buffet Food.

I would be surprised if Memphis didn't have more Chinese Buffets than Barbecue establishments (Elvis Presley between Brooks & Shelby Drive: 1 semi-barbecue place, 6 Chinese places). I don't see that fact recognized in many national publications, however.

Asian Palace on Covington Pike near Stage Road is a favorite. They have excellent seafood dishes. They have a buffet, but most people seem to order off the menu and eat family style here.

try out A-Tan on poplar and highland tucked behind the highland quartet theater. out east, on germantown parkway, try Fu-Lin, behind the sonic on the west side of g-town parkway. those are my favorites and they don't do buffets, thank goodness! A-Tan does do a sushi bar now, so they've mixed the chinese and japanese, but they're menu is 90% chinese and Fu-Lin is the best of the two.
