Recently ate at the Bookstore Cafe,412 King St. and it was excellent. Low-key reasonably priced and has some very interesting breakfast concoctions. Best breakfast I had during a week long vacation in Charleston and Savannah.

1. The Marina Variety Store Restaurant -- at the City Marina on Lockwood Blvd. Our favorite breakfast spot in town... sits out on the Ashley River. The food, view and staff are great.

2. Bookstore Cafe. On upper King Street. Has the basics, and does amazing breakfast "caseroles." A bit more expensive than others, but large quantities of food.

3. Saffron. East Bay Street. Another excellent spot, and on Sunday's has a pretty good brunch buffet (both lunch and breakfast well represented).

While walking around downtown one morning wondering where I should get something cheap for breakfast. I started talking to one of those ladies who weave the sweetgrass baskets. She told me that she always eats at a place called Kaspers. It's a small restaurant located on the side of a convenient store called Lil' Cricket. It was really good and it was less than 5 dollars. I can't remember the name of the street it's on but it's on a side street that is beside the High Cotton restaurant.
