Can anyone say whether these restaurants are still in operation across the Southeast? They had 5 or so in the Atlanta area in the 1980's.

  1. I was a GM with the Upper Crust for 5 years back in the late 80's. I believe they finally closed all their locationsin the early 90's.

Was this the same as J.D. DoubleCrust? I seem to remember those in Louisville, KY and when I visited family in Nashville (while JDD was still open) they had the Upper Crust and was almost exactly the same.

When JDD went out of business, they placed an ad in the Louisville paper with their recipe, and I USED to have it but cannot find it anywhere now. Any chance anyone out there remembers this, and still has the ad/recipe?

Yes, it was the same. There was a J.D. Doublecrust in Greenville. I loved that place! I think it closed in the late 80s - very early 90s.

    2. Don't know if it's part of the chain. But there are two great Upper Crust restaurants that I know of in S.C. One in Hilton Head and one in Beaufort.
