Going the The Big Lebowski What-Have-You Fest next weekend and have scoured the board but only seen a few things. Looked at Louisvillehotbytes.com but would like personal opinions.

Want to try the hot-brown. Best place for that? Any other regional specialties?

Thanks in advance.

Louisville is a great city with many great eating opps. The Mayan Gypsy (unique Central American) is unique and one of my favorites. Also, De La Torre's (Spanish) and Little Saigon. A terrific web site for Louisville food is Robin Garr's Restaurant Guide: http://www.iglou.com/restaurants/index.shtml

Of course the Brown Hotel downtown where the hot brown originated is still going, and houses one of the best restaurants in town--The English Grill--very fancy, but not sure if they still have the Hot Brown--the lesser restaurant in the hotel definitely does. I would second the Mayan Gypsy.

I viewed the English Grill menu and didn't see a hot brown, but it may be on the lunch menu.

Have reviewed several sources and are looking at the following for hot browns: Twig & Leaf; Mr. Z's Kitchen; Browning's Sluggar Field; Bucks; Lynn's Paradise.

And these places for Barbecue: Mark's Feed Store; Pawpaws; Pigout; Bake's; Vince Staten's Old time; Firehouse; and Jucy's.

Any opinions or comments would be most welcome. Thank you.

Buck's and Lynn's Paradise would be good choices. Skip the twig and Leaf. Sorry folks the quirky charm does not make up for the mediocre food.
