Best Hamburger

In Southwest Oklahoma, there is an outpost called Meers, which is a less than one-horse town at the foothills of the Witchita Mountains. The hamburger is Texas Longhorn, from the owner's ranch, and is served in an 8 inch pie plate, cut into 4 pieces. Umm. I fly there from Pennsylvania just to get these things! They are delicious. I think they have a web-site!

Agree that Meers is excellent, but it is a distant second to Kincaid's Market in Fort Worth, TX. And being from Okahoma, it pains me to admit that something is better in Texas!

Here's a link to Meers. Living in Alabama I'll probably never make it there, but the outside of the building lets me know it's my kind of place :)

Here in the Raleigh-Durham area, the best burgers are at the Char-Grill. Unlike McD's and other such slop, this is great fast food. Every burger is made to order and has that good grilled singe to it, the fries are crisp and not too greasy, and the shakes cannot be negotiated without a spoon. Moved here from NYC; the closest analogy up there was a little burger stand on the LI South Shore. I think it was called "American Burger" or "All-American Burger." Mmmmmmm...

No way about the char grill. I think Grill 57 rules over them with a hammer. They also make fresh burgers. The menu is much easier to deal with and their shakes are just as good, if not better than the char grill. Go to garner and give one a try. You won't regret it.

Yay, somebody has been to Meers! I haven't seen their website but I'll look for it. There are great hamburgers all over Oklahoma, but Meers remains the ultimate standard.

But I'm curious. Is there a story behind how you first found Meers?

Does anyone know if Milo's is still in business? That was great fast food.

Actually, a female friend who I met in Oklahoma City, who is now my wife, took me there one time, and I was taken with the place. Uuuuummmm....and that's not nearly descriptive enough...
