IF YOU THINK THE TUNA SALAD IS GOOD, YOU GOT TO TRY THE SALMON SALAD THAT THEY MAKE...ITS THE BEST FISH SANDWICH I KNOW OF OTHER THEN THE ONE JOE'S MAKES AT THEIR TAKEOUT

Now that I am on a fish salad sandwich kick, what exact sandwich are you referring to at Joes takeout, is it a salmon salad sandwich?

SORRY ABOUT THAT...I WAS REFERRING TO THE SALMON SALAD THAT THEY SELL AT EPICURE MARKET...ITS THE FRESH NORWEGION SALMON SALAD BEHIND THE PREPARED FOOD COUNTER.....THEY DON'T HAVE IT ALL THE TIME BUT ITS WORTH TRYING WHEN THEY DO ESPECIALLY IF YOU LIKE SALMON...THEY CAN ALWAYS MAKE YOU A SANDWICH ON A KAISER ROLL IF YOU WANT TOO...THEN THAT MIGHT QUALIFY AS SAYING YOU HAD A FISH SANDWICH....P.S. I BUY SALMON FROM EPICURE'S FISH DPT. ALL THE TIME..ITS VERY FRESH AND ALWAYS GOOD

AS FOR JOE'S TAKEOUT,THEY HAVE SEVERAL DIFFERENT SANDWICHES YOU CAN ORDER. USUALLY THEY HAVE GROUPER, SWORDFISH, TUNA AND MAHI ON THE MENU AND ALL CAN BE ORDERED EITHER GRILLED OR BLACKENED. THE FISH HAS ALWAYS BEEN VERY FRESH AND SANDWICHES ENJOYABLE. IF YOU CAN'T DO LUNCH AT THE RESTAURANT, THIS ISN'T A BAD OPTION UNFORTUNATELY THE TAKEOUT DPT. IS NOW CLOSED TILL OCT. I WAS THERE ON SUNDAY BEFORE THEY CLOSED TO PICK UP SOME COFFEE(LOVE THEIR BEANS) AND ONE OF THE GUYS TOLD ME THEY HAVE SOME NEW ITEMS ON THEIR MENU IN THE RESTAURANT FOR THE SUMMER...THE STAFF WAS ALL MEETING ON THURSDAY TO TRY SOME OF THEM...SOUNDS LIKE IT MAY BE WORTH ANOTHER VISIT..I'VE ALWAYS ENJOYED JOE'S IN THE PAST DURING THE SUMMER EVEN THOUGH I DO MISS THEIR STONES

        1. LA CAMARONERA-this freaky little cuban joint is standing room only, literally!!! Flagler and +/- 18th Ave. Pan con Minuta=Fried Fish Sandwich in cubano lingo. Also, go for the chowder and fried shrimp, hence the name! I do beleive it's time for a return visit! Lunch only...where comfy shoes...there are NO seats! ***see below.

        2. GARCIA'S-Miami River. Less culture shock here + more variety. Very good! ***Beware should you sit up front at the counter you will wander off smelling like a fry pit!

        3. Heads or Tails-I also saw them in the NT BEST OF. 36 Ave on NW 54th St. Just changed hands not too long ago, however, I don't think much has changed here, nor will it. Funky fresh...you can pick your fish out of the cooler if you so desire and they'll filet, cook and serve it up to you on bread. See above ***.

Joe's Takeaway-is definately number 1...unfortunately, you're going to have to wait until mid-October to get one!

I miss the good ole New England style fish frys. Got any ideas for this yanqui???

Went to Garcia's for lunch yesterday. It has been a while. Dolphin sandwich is still great though. So was the chowder

you got to get your nerve up and head over to the cuban institution: La Camaronera....it's gooooood! It's close to Downtown, just take Flagler west to 18th and it'll be on your left hand side in a very unassuming strip mall. Getupstandupstylefishsammy!

The grouper sandwich at Shuck's in Ft. Lauderdale is amazing! Had the dolphin sandwich at Garcia's and wasn't that impressed. I guess I'll have to try it again.

Shucks is no more.. it's a Southwestern place now. No idea whether it's a retooling or new ownership.

If you are ever in the keys, Craigs Fish Sandwiches has an amazing sandwich, i prefer the fried grouper w/ cheese.

I like the minuta at Uva 69 on Biscaye Blvd and 69th Street. Not so much for the fish inside the sandwich, but for the focaccia they serve it on, the avocado and the cunning tropical flavor this sandwich has. Yum...
