Ft. Lauderdale - New Year's Day Dinner

My husband and I are staying at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 on New Year's Day. This will be our first time in Fort Lauderdale. Do you have any suggestions for restaurants located not too far from the hotel that might be fun for dinner that evening? A restaurant that is somewhat upscale with good food and a relaxed atmosphere would be ideal.
Thanks in advance for your help.
How far is not too far?
If a 15-mile roundtrip cab ride is not out of order, then Eduardo De San Angel is worthy of consideration if they are open. The food is gourmet Mex and is to die for, the space is lovely and the service is totally top-notch. Worth a little extra distance in our book...we've eaten there both times we have cruised from FLL, and will continue to do so. Link to their menu download is below...their website is a bit slow to navigate.
You're not in the "upscale" area in that hotel, so you'll need to cab it a bit. The best area is Las Olas Blvd, where there is about a 1/2 mile stretch of restaurants, most of which will be open New Year's evening (likely not during the day). Smith and Jones is comfort food and they usually have a band (but call to check as it is a holiday). Big City Tavern has the best "scene" with a large bar and good food and very relaxed. Yolo is another choice. Its about 2 miles so its not nearly as far as commercial.
