Is this worth checking out? And if so, do the Q experts among us have any recommendations among the many offerings there this weekend?

Truth be told, the ribs and other bbq offerings are mediocre at best. I usually refer to these gatherings as rib burner sessions. But if the music lineup strikes your fancy, then you should try it at least once.

But if you want some better que and you will be close to Plant City on Nov. 19th, the Plant City Pig Jam will be going on and my team will be competing in it. You are welcome to come by our site on Saturday afternoon after 130 and we will fill you up with some of our competition que. BTW, our team name is FireHouseBBQ.

Thanks for the warning. Sounds like the food and the music quality match. See you in Plant City...

This was quite the fest this year, and even if you dont like the 80's rock bands, the Ribs were OUTSTANDING! By far some of the best, most unique sauces. And we were able to watch the Bucs game.

There are a bunch of different clans selling their ribs so it's hard to claim the generalization that 'at the Ribfest the ribs were outstanding'...

I love ribs and I'm really not that picky... I'll eat and have a good time with whatever folks I go with, but I have never been impressed with one bite I ever took at the 3-4 St. Pete Ribfests I've been to...
All these places have ribbons, trophies, and newspaper articles out for everyone to see, but I take a bite and it's just the same sticky, smokey, sweet, generic, bbq ribs...

I do like that grilled smokey corn on da cob a whole bunch tho...

I'm relieved to see that most of the responses here are mainly in agreement, and I'm depressed -- that I'm finding out about the Plant City pig thing a week or so too late...

I think I really could have been happy there...

Well, keep in mind there will be another big contest in Lakeland at Tiger Town the last weekend of january. There will be many teams vending but we will most likely be there just competing. If you come over, stop by and introduce yourself at FireHouseBBQ. Keep in mind that from 10AM to 130PM, we are strictly in our competition mode and do not allow any visitors in our site. Sorry, but we are there to win.

We live in St Pete. By all means go to Ribfest...
        1. if you don't mind paying $10. to get in...2. You REALLY like ear-splitting foul mouthed rock/rap 'music' so loud it shakes the ground...3. if you want to pay $5. apiece for mostly average'Q'...go and have a good time. Just a booming 'rock concert' with so-so Q. As for me & mine, forget it!
