Torta in Seattle?

I read a good article in the Seattle Times about the decline of the Torta in Mexico. I've never had one. Any recommendations in Seattle?

I don't have much to compare them to, but I like the sandwiches at a place near my house called Cemitas Poblanas.

I'll get the name later, but there is a place in the U-District directly across from the Neptune Theatre that serves them. I don't have anything to compare them with either, but my wife, (who is an archaeologist who has done a fair bit of fieldwork in Northern Mexico) says that they are a decent attempt at them. They are tasty....

Burrito Loco, both at U-Villiage and on Holman Rd, has good tortas.

Taqueria Guaymas used to have them (the one at Greenlake is the only one I've been to, so can't speak for other branches), but I haven't been in a while.

The taco truck on 148th in Bellevue-Redmond, it's in the 76 parking lot right by 520, really great tongue torta. I'm a big sucker for well prepared tongue, I keep meaning to try the others but always get the tongue.

Taqueria Tequilla a few blocks away on 85th & 3rd is pretty good.

Like a cheesesteak, it's really the bread that makes or breaks a Torta and both have good rolls. Tequilla has lengua too if you're into that kind of thing.

Muy Macho (spelling may be off) in South Park. The carnitas version is the best.

Always happy to see any post on mexican specialties. The best torta I have had is at El Quetzal on Beacon Hill. It is both delicious and huge, perhaps enough for two lunches. Check out their huaraches as well--dope.

THere is a new little Mexican place on Aurora at 79th (west side of street) that seems to be an all torta place...it looks interesting. They have everything from sausage to head cheese to egg tortas.
