Torta in Seattle?

  • g

I read a good article in the Seattle Times about the decline of the Torta in Mexico. I've never had one. Any recommendations in Seattle?

  1. I don't have much to compare them to, but I like the sandwiches at a place near my house called Cemitas Poblanas.

    1. I'll get the name later, but there is a place in the U-District directly across from the Neptune Theatre that serves them. I don't have anything to compare them with either, but my wife, (who is an archaeologist who has done a fair bit of fieldwork in Northern Mexico) says that they are a decent attempt at them. They are tasty....

      1. Burrito Loco, both at U-Villiage and on Holman Rd, has good tortas.

Taqueria Guaymas used to have them (the one at Greenlake is the only one I've been to, so can't speak for other branches), but I haven't been in a while.

        1. The taco truck on 148th in Bellevue-Redmond, it's in the 76 parking lot right by 520, really great tongue torta. I'm a big sucker for well prepared tongue, I keep meaning to try the others but always get the tongue.
