Hot Rod's BBQ in Lutz, FL (N. of Tampa)
Anyone been to this place? It's within walking distance to where I'll be staying in Florida and was wondering if it's worth checking out. Does anyone know of the hours of operation, or if they have a website?

I have been to Hot Rod's many times with co-workers for lunch, food is average at best. No matter what you order it all tastes the same. Service is extremely slooooooooooow. If BBQ is what you want there are much better selections.

I've heard very good things about HOt Rod's, but haven't yet eaten there. I hear it's quite good and wroth the visit, with its eclectic trapping (like chickens running around).
Not for from there is The Pie Plate, on Livingston and Bearss (near Remington's steakhouse). They have excellent panini sandwiches (try the chicken with chili mayo, tomato, provolone, and basil---- excellent!) As one would assume, pies are their specialty, and they are excellent. I was disappointed with the key lime pie, however, which was more like a very mild lime cheesecake. Try the peanut butter pie, tho, it's a winner.
A short drive away is Trang Viet Cuisine on Fowler, which is my fave. Try the 4 seasons platter, the pho soup, and whatever else looks good.
