a place to eat in dade city, as if you'd ever go there
I have to recommend what must be one of the most wonderful restaurants in Florida--Cafe Kokopelli, in downtown Dade City. The woman who owns this place has scavanged every available scrap of local history--photos, ephemera, useless junk, paintings, you name it--and hung it from every wall and rafter of this enormous place (a revamped Ford Motor Garage). Lots of stuff on the menu is organic--she's committed to serving the freshest and healthiest--but she doesn't say so on the menu because she doesn't think her customers would care! She made her $ on fast food franchises, but this is her labor of love (and perhaps she's doing penance.) If you're ever within 100 miles of Dade City, make the trip (ask her for a look at the back rooms, which are usually only open for parties).

Sound good. Is Lunch On Limoges still open in Dade City? I ate there years ago and enjoyed the food alot.

I know this thread is really old, but I was just in Brooksville on business and searched on here for good restaurants. I saw a post and tried Kafe Kokopelli- it was gorgeous. I loved how it was covered in ivy and trees, and it was nice and cozy inside. The she-crab bisque was really good! The atmosphere was well worth the drive from Brooksville. I would definitely go again.
I also tried A Matter of Taste in Dade City, and the food was awesome! It's a little cafe in downtown Dade City, and I tried a Cuban pork sandwich (Buena Noche sandwich) and it was absolutely wonderful. They also have this locally-baked bread called Nana's bread, covered in fresh tomato and mozerella cheese, with butter and garlic baked into the bread. SO GOOD, you should try A Matter of Taste. They are also famous for this dish they have. It's half of a pineapple hollowed out, and it has California-style chicken salad in it, with fruit on the side. I didn't try it, but wanted to! I will definitely be making my way back the next time I travel.

re: hollisbrooke
I love Kafe Kokopelli. We drive out from Tampa a couple times a year and have lunch there. It's especially nice if you go in the winter and they have the fireplace burning. I love their white bean chicken chili. We have been to Lunch on Limoges as well. The food was very good but Kafe Kokopelli is more my style.

We used to live in Dade City (moved last year). Kafe Kokopelli is a wonderful restaurant - great atmospere and good food. The only really good restaurant in this little town. I don't think they make a lot of money from this restaurant, as mentioned earlier it's their labor of love; they have money from other business ventures. If you are within driving distance, it's worth a trip up.
