Dined at the newest Outback venture, a New Orleans themed restaurant near the original Outback in Tampa. It was sleek and gorgeous with curved wooden booths and sort of open kitchen (stained glass partitions). But the best part was the food: rich andouille gumbo, fried oysters with a creamy "herbsaint" sauce, baby green salad with caramelized onions (appetizers!), duck in reduction sauce, sea bass with nut crust (I usually do not like the sweet nut crust on fish, but this was wonderful), my husband had a porterhouse which was cooked to perfection (Pittsburg rare).
Prices were expensive (in the high teens for entrees) but worth it. Service was "overdone" (is this possible?) with the team scenario....but there were at least three people asking us how was our food...I'm sure this will calm down after a few weeks. The chef/consultant here is Ann Kearney, imported from her famous Peristyle Restaurant in New Orleans. I understand she is just temporary and will return to NO. Hope the food remains as delicious as we had.
