Rio Mar
Forgot to mention that I made Rio Mar at lunch Friday for tapas and had a great meal. We ate light. Jambon and olives. The shrimp sauteed in a garlicky, olive oily broth.
A nice salad with giant capers and olives and topped with sauteed onions rounded out lunch. Alas, no marinated, smoked, grilled tuna.
Two glasses of Albarino and Roxanne and I were in high heaven!

It's a good place, but it's too bad that they appear to get their jamon pre-cut. I know that in the U.S. you can get the entire pata negra leg of ham, but they may not do enough volume to warrant the investment. I would certainly go back, though.

ask the chef or one of the employees if they have a slicer back there and tell them to show you the whole redondo iglesias jamon which is serrano since pata negra cannot be imported presently.

I could have sworn that I've seen a pata negra at a cheese and meat shop in another state. Then again, this is a shop that specializes in importing illegal cheeses from France.
It must be the use of a slicer that made me think it was the pre-cut variety that appears packaged in stores. The slices seemed too uniform. Not the ragged pieces you get in Spain that have been cut by hand.
I stand corrected. I'll just say the ham was a little dry, but on par with what you generally find in the U.S. Still good. Everything else I had was top quality. It's a great lunch option.
