Just hearsay but I want to see if anyone knows about this, I heard this a few months ago but Celeste's earlier post about the BBQ Oyster po boy has jogged my memory. Does anyone know of a restaurant that serves a dish of Oysters baked in a thin sauce of garlic, oil and parsley inside a baby eggplant pirogue? Blanketed by a gratinee topping type of thing with the option of one or more sauces - Bearnaise, Hollandaise or....

A friend mentioned having had this to me and I've checked back with her and she doesn't remember where and doesn't keep notes.

I hope I've edited this and eliminated all the errors but the stupor bowl has started and I'm feeling the effects on my psyche and also I've had the best part of two bottles of Primitivo di Manduria. May be nappy time.

Amanda, I hope someone answers this question because that dish sounds really good!

I've had eggplant pirogue elsewhere, similarly served, but I am not recalling fried seafood. Or maybe I do, now that I am thinking about it.

Does Jacques Imo's serve anything like this? I may have had it there.

I don't know about Jacquemo's but I've had an eggplant pirogue stuffed with crabmeat.

And it's not exactly the same but a crab stuffed eggplant is one of my future mother-on-law's stocks in trade. It's fabulous.

I have had the stuffed eggplant pirogue at K-Paul's. It is very rich. The entire eggplant after being stuffed with seafood, is then fried.

I ate half and brought the rest home for the next day.

That's it Yvette! That's the one I dreamt about for years! I used to go to K Paul's for lunch frequently and that was one of my absolute favorites! Thanks for reminding me.

BTW, howya doin? Maybe we can have lunch sometime after Mardi Gras with the gang.

Isabella:

The "gang" is thinking about getting together at a new place, Shimmy Shack, (Rivershack guy) next week, Feb 10 for lunch.

Don't know if its still a go, check out the Jlist for sure. I had a computer crash, so I lost your email address otherwise I would email you directly.

Take care, hope to see you soon,
