The place is not a tourist trap - it's miles beyond Pere Antoine's, Tortorici's, or any of those types. They're pretty good. I think she liked anything they did with eggplant. The thing is, there are 20 restaurants within a five-minute walk that are vastly better. (She tried to defend them by saying that the Royal Cafe would be incredible if it moved to, say, Omaha. Which is like saying that a ballplayer would be good if he moved from the Houston Astros down to Double-A Round Rock.) New Orleans never looked better. I never felt like this was a tourist trap. Lots of locals at the bar and a great piano. We enjoyed it and would diffinately return. J.
