In films that respect and adore good food you can taste and smell the food, the kitchen, and the wine.
What films do that for Southern Food?

Thanks,

That's quite a question, josh. There's certainly no NOLA/louisiana equivalent to Babette's Feast, Tampopo, nor even Chocolat. In fact, the entire South has been poorly developed in american cinema. we're usually just a (poorly) affected accent portraying the bass ackward rube. If a videographic account of our foos is a must, you can try contacting louisiana public broadcasting to see if you can get some of their local cooking shows (john folse, paul prudhomme, justin wilson). Otherwise, you're going to be forced to turn to the written word, where we are much better characterized and represented. Tangentially, the best NOLA movie ever made is Down By Law. It's not at all food oriented, but man, what a film!

I want to just make the point that Southern food and food representative of New Orleans are two entirely different entities.
