There's a local company called Chef's Table Tours. They arrange for you to get special treatment at some of the better New Orleans resraurants. You get to go back in the kitchen & meet the chef, then you get a multi-course tasting menu paired with wine. It's not cheap, but we had a blast. Their URL is www.chefstabletours.com We also recommend the Southern Comfort Cocktail Tour. It gives you a lot of history about the New Orleans origins of many drinks. Also fun. Every Saturday there is free in-store concerts at the Louisiana Music Factory on Decatur Street, across from the House of Blues. Sometimes, Abita provides free beer. Hope this helps. If you haven't been to Tujaugue's, I highly recommend it---I've been to NO often for business, too, and I love the local color at the bar.
