<content>I'm going to be in NO for the first time in early November. While my girlfriend is attending a conference, I'm looking for good places to eat by myself. I'm from New York, so I'm looking for things I can't get up north.

I know I need to hit Mother's for lunch, and my girlfriend and I have dinner reservations at Galatoire's and I'm calling Peristyle, but what else should I do where it is comfortable to eat alone?

Thanks in advance for your help</content>

<content>Central Grocery for a Muffalatta. I like to get one to go, along with a beer, and eat it on the River side or in J Square while watching the street performers.

<content>I have been to New Orleans by myself every time I have been there except the first time. People eat in restaurants in New Orleans alone more than you may think because it is such a convention and tourist town. I have been to the following restaurants alone and was treated well in all of them:

Galatroires
K-Paul's
NOLA
Antoine's
Emeril's
Mosca's
Commander's Palace
Mandina's
Brennan's

And many others that I can not remember right now. If you want to eat somewhere in New Orleans alone, go for it.

<content>I eat alone very, very often; at least for lunch. I work in the central business district, and I frequently take some work with me to lunch; Wednesdays, I might also take the NYT food section. I am trying to think of a place that you *wouldn't* feel comfortable, actually.

The three places you mention are fine. Remember that Galatoire's requires a jacket, and Peristyle is only open for lunch on Friday - reservations are absolutely required.

Other restaurants you might try (that are in the same general area) are Bayona, Herbsaint, Cuvee, the Bistro at Maison de Ville, and Rene Bistrot (a completely arbitrary list)

Hope you have a good time.
